About

Homes for sale in Washington Village are located in the southwest quadrant of Baltimore City.  Within walking distance of the Inner Harbor, Camden Yards, Ravens Stadium, The University of Maryland Medical Center, the Mount Clare Mansion and the historic B&O Railroad Museum, Washington Village is a mix of newly constructed and renovated historical rowhomes.

Washington Village was formerly known as Pigtown. The original name was coined in the 1800’s when the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad released its cargo of pigs to run through Ostend and Cross streets en route to slaughterhouses in South Baltimore. Though locals endearingly cling to the Pigtown moniker, Washington Village is the urban renewal name designated by the City of Baltimore.  However, as an homage to the neighborhood’s beginning, Washington Village residents celebrate its culture during the “Pigtown Festival”, which brings thousands to the community each year to enjoy food, entertainment and “squeakness”, a race featuring pigs.
